School Valentine Card Design #2

My oldest daughter loved the melted crayons molded into shapes she saw online. So to do this I used two inexpensive ice cube molds and we melted colors that can be mixed with out turning brown (primary colors and colors next to each other on the color wheel) and baked them. I found out fast, ice cube molds are not very heat resistant. So a low temperature for a longer time worked well. I baked the crayons in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes.  Before baking we added glitter to each heart to give it some sparkle. Once cool they popped right out. We then cut heart card shapes from the Cricut cartridge Wild Card in a variety of colors. My daughter then matched the crayons to the card color. On the inside she chose the bright paper and made labels that said "You color my world!!!" On the back she wrote the names. I am proud to say my daughter did most of this project, with the exception of tying the 24 bows. I should have thought about tying all those bows!

School Valentine Card Design #1

With all the focus on health in schools, the Valentine cards we made were not to contain candy. So my youngest daughter wanted to make Valentine bookmarks with dogs for her cards this year.  The dog face made from all heart shapes is not an original design, but together we figured out how to make the dog into the bookmark. She made pink and brown for the girls and blue and brown for the boys. I cut out the hearts from the Cricut cartridge Slumber Party and a variety of punches. My daughter had so much fun adding the textures with the Cuttlebug.  She also did most of the assembling and drew on the dots. On the back are the "To:" and "From:" names.  She is so happy with the way they turned out and can't wait to give them out on Valentine's Day.

Valentine Card Challenge

http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/2012/02/love-is-in-air.html

A great friend encouraged me to enter a paper craft challenge on Our Creative Corner blog.  I was inspired by the color challenge and came up with this design.  The link to the challenge is at the top of this post.

Welcome!

Welcome to my very own blog page! Although this is not my first time blogging, this is a first to have my very own blog site.  I plan to share some of my art, crafts, and photography with the world. I am hoping to post weekly updates when I am not too busy living life!
